Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation.” Yoga Nidra involves no physical movement. The practitioner is lying down, (on a yoga mat on the floor, on a bed, or even in a recliner), with a teacher guiding the 35-to-40-minute session. The participant should be relatively assured of no distractions or interruptions and should refrain from eating just prior to the session. The practice draws our attention inwards and may lead to a transformational experience of inner calm. Benefits of Yoga Nidra may include releasing emotional tension, increasing calm, and allowing muscles to relax. Yoga Nidra is not recommended for people with some psychiatric conditions; please consult your healthcare provider about whether Yoga Nidra is right for you.

These classes are offered online at specific times. If you can’t attend at the time of the session, a recording can be sent to registered participants following the class. Check our calendar for the next class. Look for “Yoga Nidra”. To sign up, email us at [email protected] with “Yoga Nidra” and the date you want to sign up for in the subject line.

This workshop will introduce a life review journaling workbook called “Voices of the Heart” created by our partners at Big Bend Hospice. A copy of the journal will be provided to each participant, and they will learn tips and strategies for life review interviewing of a loved one.
